Is Disinfection Tunnels Are Effective To Fight Against Corona Virus Or COVID 19?

The corona virus or we can say COVID 19 is an infectious disease. The first case of COVID 19 is found in Wuhan, China. The virus has spread all over the world and lakhs of peoples get infected by this virus. There are any prevention taken by the countries such as lock-downs, sanitization, maintaining proper hygiene, social distancing. also in tech word many equipment and kits are used to check weather the person is infected by COVID 19 or not? Drones are used to sanitize surroundings also to keep watch over the people who breaks the lock-down rule. Apart from this development of disinfection tunnels are going on.

๐Ÿ‘‰ What is disinfection tunnels?

Disinfection tunnels are the tunnels or rooms where people can sanitize themselves as the person passes through these tunnels the nozzle sprays disinfectant mist on which reportedly kills most of the germs and viruses.
These tunnels sprays the mist of Sodium Hypochlorite solution, a Chlroine compound often used as a disinfectant or bleaching agent as you pass through them Sodium Hypochlorite are used as a commercial bleaches and cleaning solution also used as a disinfectant in drinking and waste water purification systems and swimming pools. They make Dalkin's solution with Sodium Hypochloride in which 0.5 w/v solution are used.

๐Ÿ‘‰ World's 1st disinfection tunnels:

Initially China began using such a method in February when a disinfectant tunnel was installed in city of Chongqing.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Disinfection tunnels in India:

In India first disinfection tunnel setup at the entrance of largest market at Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu where 1 percent of Sodium Hypochlorite used. The dilution rate is one part per million (ppm). The principle behind in India's new disinfectant tunnels is wash your hands and walk through a tunnel in which overhead sprayers sprinkle disinfectant. This two step process can reduces the number of germs.
The idea for this system came from Young Indians, which is a non profit entity with the confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Their initiative was accepted by the administration, fine-tuned, built and setup.
The Indian railways loco-shed in Maharashtra Bhusaval's has develops a tunnel which costs at just Rs 10,000. The tunnel has three nozzle that spray one part per million (ppm) Sodium Hypochlorite solution which sanitize peopled in just 3-5 seconds. It has a tank capacity of 500 liters which works continuously for 15 hours. These tunnels are already setup at various places in the country including markets, police stations and other public places in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Kashmir, West Bengal, kerala, Bihar, Uttarpradesh, Delhi NCR and Punjab and this list is rapidly growing.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Outside India:

Authorities in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo also began installing locally produced disinfection tunnels outside the city's administration buildings.
Similarly, a seller's union in Guadalajara, Mexico established ozone based sanitization tunnels at the country's 2nd largest market and many more country setup these disinfection tunnels.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Costing of Disinfection Tunnels:

There tunnels comes in various shapes, sizes and costs and range from basic contraptions which cost less than Rs 10,000 to high- end steel and chrome tunnels with various sensors and conveyor belts which is costing around 25 lakhs.

๐Ÿ‘‰ World Health Organization (WHO) statement on Disinfection Tunnels:

World Health Organization (WHO) warns that these tunnels are meant to supplement and not replace other measures like social distancing, wearing mask, washing hand regularly and  maintaining proper hygiene.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Drawbacks of Disinfection Tunnels:

Slightly variation in the concentration of Sodium Hypchlorite could leads to mild to extremely serious side effects such as skin and eye irritation, also those have allergy with these chemicals can have sneezing issue. So, to avoid dangerous mishaps it is important that the government quickly formulate and enforce the guidelines for these tunnels.

Disinfection tunnels are one of the measures to hygiene people it doesn't meant that we should avoid other measures. we should follow each and every step towards cleanliness and self sanitization also follow social distancing to stop COVID 19.
